(Another) New Wine Frontier: Croatia

Lately, it seems like there’s some new “must try” wine or region popping up every week. Wines from The Republic of Georgia have been the next big thing for a while now, but whatever happened to Uruguay? And then there’s sparkling wine from England, which hasn’t quite landed here yet. The most out-there frontier is definitely the Tiangong Space Lab, where the Chinese have sent vines to see what kind of useful mutations might arise in space.
Croatian wines have been available is Massachusetts for a few years now, and they are making a big impression among local wine geeks/lovers. Like anywhere else in Europe, wine is deeply embedded in the culture and grape vines can be found just about anywhere. Some of the grapes they grow are vaguely familiar, but most are not, and we have selected a representative group from the Dalmation coast in the south to Istria in the north. Many of these wines are only available here in Massachusetts due to their limited production.

Our host will be Croatian native Dragica “Dee” King, one of the USA’s first importers of Croatian wine. Dee is passionate about her homeland and its wines and offers a unique understanding of a wine culture just beginning.

Due to the limited number of seats, we will require a $30 deposit per person. We will call on Saturday, October 15 to confirm. If the reservation is cancelled after that time, and we are unable to reserve the space, a Puritan & Co. gift certificate will be issued in the amount of the deposit.
